I Don’t Like Dates

I don't like dates, I don't like anniversaries,
nor when you act as if you care about me,
I don't need your attention sporadically,
because, sorry, that's really little for me.

I don't like birthdays and courteous wishes,
when an app reminds others of me,
nor your greeting a minute after midnight,
you're not next to me — disqualification.

I don't like your hypocrisy in its full glory,
when you show others that you care about me,
and you know your hug could help me,
so my life doesn’t go down the wrong path.

I don't like that I love you and that you're the only one
with whom my story is made whole,
even though your need for other people's attention
has pushed our love well into darkness.
